MoCCA! and Infandum #2.

Long time no post, I know... but I've got a very exciting update: Infandum! #2 is available now. The general theme of this installment is humiliation -- and who doesn't love some o'that?

Fabulous features include:
Great Moments In Baseball...A Tale of Two Freds. A rare two-part GMIB wherein Bill Buckner tells the sad tale of Freds Merkle and Snodgrass.

Repressed Memory Theatre. A life lesson in the value of conformity and maternal love. Or something.

Rules of Romance: Breakup Jujitsu. How to get dumped like a winner.

My Health Regimen 2: Get Your Marathon On! Another sober (ha!) meditation on workouts and booze.

And a trivia contest!

Email me at mollylawless@yahoo.com for ordering details. Infandum #2 is $1.25, or bundle with another of my minis (Sleepwalker, Infandum #1, or Great Moments In Baseball, Volume 1) for $2.oo.

MoCCA Artfest in NYC this weekend was lots of fun. I saw lots of excellent work, handed out boatloads of free comics, and met some fab people, including Dean Haspiel, who was kind enough to mention me here, and not as "the girl with the crazy name who forced all her minis on me". Thanks, Dean! Also thanks to my sister, also known as Infandum #2's covergirl, for accompanying me to MoCCA.

Check back soon for samples from Infandum #2!

Freeeeee Comic Book Day!

As many of you may already know, today is Free Comic Book Day. My 2-page tragicomic tale, Repressed Memory Theatre, is included in the DC Conspiracy's fabulous group contribution to the FCBD festivities. Details of where to get a copy are at the aforelinked DC Conspiracy site. If you aren't able to get your hands on one today, my story will be reprinted in the soon-(as in mid-to-late June at the absolute latest, I swear) to-be-released Infandum! Volume Two. Also featured: Two (!) new installments of everyone's favorite, Great Moments In Baseball, a brand-spankin' new My Health Regimen, and a new feature, Rules Of Romance. And other stuff. For preordering details email me at mollylawless-AT-yahoo.com. And a happy Cinco de Free Comic Book Day to you and yours. And if you scored an extra copy of Unseen Peanuts, let me know.

"Home Run" Baker...

..was actually a butcher, bet you didn't know that!
I drew this picture of Frank "Home Run" Baker to post on his birthday, but goshdarnit it's like Christmas... I just couldn't wait. Anyway, he was a pretty formidable power hitter back in the day when the boys hit the same old wet sock --excuse me, ball -- around parks for weeks at a time. And his eyebrows are rivaled only by those of R.E.M.'s Bill Berry, in my humble opinion.

Happy 124th Birthday, "Prince Hal"...

...you crazy s.o.b.! He was born on this day in 1883. For those of you unfamiliar with Mr. Chase, he was perhaps the biggest crook in the history of the game, and is therefore of infinite interest to us (uh, me) here at Sleepwalker HQ. Was he the most talented first basemen of all time? Who knows? What's certain is that he was the shadiest. Here's a link to his Wikipedia entry. He was accused of throwing games constantly, widely suspected of being involved in the Black Sox scandal of 1919 - he won $40,000 betting against the White Sox - and was often described as being "exactly as good as he wanted to be" -- if you get my drift. One league owner described him as "completely and congenitally amoral....he should have been committed to some kind of institution." But he sure could field purty! He said he did it all for the money. The big leagues weren't so big into the fat paychecks back then. Finally booted from baseball in 1919 after snaking around accusations from, among others, Christy Mathewson and Frank Chance, he rattled around outlaw leagues in the West and - surprise - Mexico. He tried to get a league going on down there, but, oopsie daisy, was kicked out of the country by none other than Mexican President Plutarco Elias Calles. Word of his disreputability had travelled south of the border. He died in Calfornia in 1947.
